“Yes?” I yelled back, only to hear the blonde ramble something that I could not understand over the noise. I wrapped my nightgown in my arms and went to see what she had said.
”I just need the dragon-kin to help heat the air for the balloon. We’re just barely staying aloft. Is he awake?”
“He was last I checked.”
“There’s also the matter of… direction. I’m navigating mostly by compass now, you see,” Kewyn explained, pointing to the instrument attached just below the window. “I’m not really sure which direction I should be headed, though. And seeing as Rio seems to be unable to help…”
She glanced over at the half-blood, who was lying across one of the cushioned benches, fast asleep. I rolled my eyes. It seemed Rio was not bothered by the thought of being thrown to the floor if the skyship took a sharp turn. I, personally, was planning on making myself comfortable on the floor.
“I’ll go ask him to come out,” I volunteered.
“Thanks,” she smiled shyly before I went back to the storage room..
Levent was sitting in the corner rubbing one of his blades with a bit of cloth. They had gotten quite a lot of use today.
“Kewyn needs you,” I said, gesturing over my shoulder.
He looked up, his mouth twitching a little as he nodded. He set his sword on top of the cloth and walked past me out the door.
I let it shut behind him, hoping I would be able to change into my pajamas before he returned. I managed to change quite quickly, listening to the quiet rumble of Levent’s voice as he walked past the door and went down to the engine itself.
I tucked my jacket around me before I stuffed my clothes back in my bag. When I returned to the cockpit, Rio was sitting up and chatting animatedly.
“…and that would make us about six hours from the northern coast of Zephilon,” the redhead said, grinning.
“That was very impressive,” Kewyn said unenthusiastically.
“Got a map in my head, love,” he said, tapping his temple.
“Six hours, huh?” I muttered, thinly disguising a yawn. “Can I borrow the futon until then?”
“Oh? Going to sleep, m’lady?” Rio asked.
