I were still standing there.

“With these people?” She asked, hints of the disgust that was in her voice when she first appeared now creeping back into her tone. The look on her face as she examined us was one of mild interest, I thought, until her eyes reached my own.

I kept my eyes locked with hers though it made me slightly uncomfortable to do so. I was determined not to show any weakness to this Jazibe individual. Fortunately, Rio chose that moment to step forward and introduce himself.

“Hello, madam. My name is Ri-” As the half-blood began to extend his hand in greeting, the female swiftly pulled back.

“Yes, that's very nice,” she said shortly before turning her back to us. She was facing Levent and only Levent. Rio quickly used his outstretched hand to adjust his coat.

“How did you get here?” Jazibe asked as she linked her arm with Levent's and began to steer him away from us. I heard him begin to explain the airship before I burst.

“I don't like her,” I grumbled quietly.

A chuckle bubbled up Rio's throat. “Oh why would you say that? Is it because she clearly considers us lower than toads, or...” The half-blood leaned down to my height. “Is it that and the fact that she's got her mitts all over your Mister Itzallion?”

“My what-?”

“Excuse me!” Kewyn said over our squabble, rushing over to Levent and Jazibe. “I don't mean to be presumptuous, but we're in need of some supplies. Do you happen to have any fuel around that we might use?”

Jazibe frowned in thought. “Fuel? What kind of fuel?”

“Err,” Kewyn said. I could see the cogs spinning in her head. “Oh, you know. Some paraffin, if you have any.”

The female dragon-kin sighed, disinterested. “I suppose we might have some downstairs. Guards!” She called her three henchmen with a snap of her fingers. “Take these three down to the store room and see what we have to offer them, alright?”

Kewyn smiled politely. “Thank you.”

“Oh, you're very welcome,” Jazibe replied with a smirk. The way she said it made my stomach crawl, and I moved closer to Rio as we went to meet Kewyn and Jazibe's soldiers.
