The Dinaeon Republic

Introduction

The Dinaeon Republic crosses the northern half of the main continent. It is the home of humankind, and has always had an open-door policy to other races. The Republic is currently at war with the Estelhein Kingdom.

Geography

The Republic is split into two main regions: Western Dinaeoa and the Delfaetha Steppe. The West is a mountainous region, and what is not covered by mountains is covered by forest. The Delfaetha Steppe, as its name implies, is largely treeless grasslands with low hills.

Politics

The Dinaeon Republic is a relatively new joining of the old Dinaeon Republic and the tribal leaders centered in Oenferia. Currently the Republic is on the defensive, as the Estelhein Kingdom continues its 100-year invasion.

The Republic's seat is in Lahnfabon and consists of representatives from each area and township in the republic. The chairman of the republic is currently Tugh Myllough, a middle-aged human whose family hails from western Dinaeoa for generations.

Much unrest is stirring in the Republic, as those other than the very rich are falling further into poverty as the war with Estelhein continues. Most of the Delfaethans do not see themselves as Dinaeon, and very few have immigrated to the west from their homeland.

Population

Occupants of the Republic are primarily human, but the country has the highest occurance of mixed-races than any other. Fauns and dragon-kin are permitted to immigrate to the republic, but are considered second-class citizens by most humans. (Dragon-kin especially are targetted by hate-groups due to the war.)

The Merfolk used to live in and around the waters of the Gorlain Sea, but very few of them have been seen since the war broke out a century ago.

Beliefs

Humans of the Dinaeon Republic traditionally attribute the goddess Manavell with most of their success. However, she is rarely worshipped.

Over the last four centuries, a movement has grown toward a monotheistic religion that emphasizes that the four gods were created by one far more powerful.

Delfaethan shamans believe in the ability to speak to the dead. They are very few in recent centuries, but there are many Delfaethans who have attended siances in an effort to seek guidance from their ancestors. This is a faith that originally hails from the eastern continent, but the source has never been precisely found due to the dragon-kin's scouring of the desert.
