Mixed Races

Introduction

"Mixed race" refers to any individual that is not pure human, pure faun, pure mer, or pure dragon-kin. Other terms for these individuals included "mixed-blood" and "half-blood."

The only mixed-blood offspring in existance are always part human. It seems a child can only be conceived if one of the parents is human. It is unknown whether this is due to too much varience in the physiology of the other races, or just if it's never been attempted.

Satyrs

Satyrs are those with both human and faun blood. Their appearance is distinctive from fauns in two ways. A Satyr's ears are more like a human's, thought some Satyrs still have slightly furry ears. A Satyr's leg joints are also like a human's, though some still have furred legs and/or hooves. If the Satyr is male, he will still grow horns when he reaches puberty.

Satyrs have a negative reputation among fauns. Fauns, for the most part, consider them an insult to their heritage. Satyrs are not permitted to enter Lynfaelor, and usually find themselves to be more welcome among humans.

Half-Mer

Since the merpeople's disappearance a century ago, there have been many individuals that claim to have mer blood. While some of these individuals claim the blood only to give themselves a reputation, there are several individuals in the Dinaeon Republic that have merpeople lineage.

Appearance-wise, half-mers can appear almost human. Some distinctive qualities in those known to have mer blood are:

  • pale skin (blueish tinge)
  • blue eyes (sometimes with unusually large irises)
  • pointed projections from ears (appear "shell-like")
  • webbed fingers or toes
  • scales or scale-like marks on skin (especially on legs, feet, lower back or stomach)

Half-Dragon
The only human and dragon-kin offspring in history have appeared in the lore of the Delfaetha Steppe. These children have small horns, short tails and either wing nubs or no wings at all. It is unknown whether the half-dragons in these stories are based on real children, or if they exist merely to be a warning.
